CONSCIOUS SAFARI

South Africa | 31 May – 9 June 2027
With Léa Gutierrez

An Invitation to Reconnect with the Living World

This immersive journey is an invitation to rediscover a direct relationship with the living world, in the vibrant landscapes of eastern South Africa.

Far removed from conventional tourism and fast-paced sightseeing, this experience is about slowing down, observing deeply, feeling fully, and allowing the wilderness and its wildlife to do what they have always done best: awaken something within us.

There is nothing you need to achieve or accomplish here.

The intention is simply to experience each encounter fully, meeting a remarkable landscape, witnessing wildlife living freely in its natural habitat, and discovering yourself through that connection.

This is not a safari to tick animals off a list.

It is an invitation to become fully present.

Léa's Guidance

Throughout the journey, Léa provides a supportive and grounding presence, creating a safe space in which each participant can experience the retreat with confidence and openness.

By setting a thoughtful rhythm for the group, she facilitates meaningful encounters with both the landscapes and the wildlife while sharing her deep knowledge and love of this extraordinary region.

Attentive to each participant’s individual experience, Léa gently supports whatever naturally arises along the way. Her role is not to direct the experience, but to hold space for it, allowing both personal transformation and the collective journey to unfold organically.

This is a living, evolving adventure where nature becomes the guide, and Léa’s presence offers a steady anchor, compassionate support, and a catalyst for deeper connection -with yourself, with others, and with the wild.

Dates:

31 May – 9 June 2027
10 days / 9 nights

Key Information:

Léa Gutierrez - Founder of Instinctiva

Léa spent the first sixteen years of her life growing up in Gabon, where her deep connection with Africa and the natural world first took root.

After more than seven years working professionally in animal communication and energy-based healing, she chose to dedicate her work to what resonates most deeply with her heart: guiding immersive journeys through the wild landscapes of southern Africa.

Far removed from traditional tourism, Léa creates what she calls Conscious Safaris – experiences designed to foster a profound sense of connection.

Rather than simply observing wildlife, participants are invited to encounter Africa in its truest essence, meeting animals within their natural habitat while allowing the vastness of the wilderness to reconnect them with themselves.

For Léa, the living world is more than a backdrop.

It becomes a catalyst for presence, healing, transformation, and belonging.

She accompanies each journey with the quiet confidence of someone who knows this land intimately and whose greatest joy is sharing it with those willing to be deeply touched by its beauty.

Hoedspruit

Nestled in the heart of Limpopo, on the doorstep of the Greater Kruger National Park, Hoedspruit is far more than a stopover town – it is one of South Africa’s true wildlife capitals.

Surrounded by renowned private game reserves, conservation projects, and working wildlife estates, Hoedspruit offers the perfect base from which to discover one of Africa’s most extraordinary natural regions.

Life here moves at the gentle rhythm of the bush. Passionate safari guides, conservationists, local families, and wildlife enthusiasts all contribute to the town’s warm and authentic atmosphere, where nature is never far away and wildlife is part of everyday life.

More than simply a gateway to adventure, Hoedspruit represents a rare balance between authentic African living, meaningful conservation, and privileged access to some of South Africa’s most exceptional safari experiences.

The Greater Kruger National Park extends across an immense unfenced wilderness where wildlife moves freely between the many private reserves and the Kruger National Park itself.

Here, Africa reveals itself in all its magnificence.

Lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo – the legendary Big Five – share this vast ecosystem with hundreds of other remarkable species, from graceful giraffes and elusive hyenas to an astonishing diversity of birdlife.

Every safari is unique.

At sunrise, the golden light gently awakens the bush as the first animal tracks appear in the sand. As evening approaches, wildlife gathers around rivers and waterholes, creating unforgettable moments that remind us we are merely visitors in their world.

Walking safaris offer an entirely different perspective.

Rather than searching for animals from a vehicle, you begin to understand the language of the bush—reading fresh tracks, listening to birds, noticing subtle scents carried by the wind, and becoming aware of the countless signs of life that often go unnoticed. These slow, immersive walks cultivate presence, sharpen the senses, and deepen your connection with the natural world.

Game drives, on the other hand, allow you to venture deeper into the reserve in search of Africa’s iconic wildlife. With experienced guides, you may witness predator behaviour, follow elusive leopards, or observe elephants, lions and countless other species in their natural habitat.

In the Greater Kruger, every moment spent in nature becomes a lesson in humility, wonder, and interconnectedness; a powerful reminder of the raw beauty, timeless rhythms, and extraordinary intelligence of the wild.

HERD Elephant Orphanage

HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development) began in 1997 with the rescue of a four-month-old orphaned elephant named Jabulani.

What started as the rescue of a single calf evolved into South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage and one of the country’s most inspiring conservation success stories.

Today, HERD provides lifelong care for orphaned and displaced elephants while helping them rebuild the social bonds that are essential to elephant wellbeing.

Many of the elephant carers have worked alongside these animals for over two decades, creating extraordinary relationships based on trust and respect.

You’ll enjoy the rare privilege of meeting the famous Jabulani herd while learning their remarkable story directly from the people who care for them every day.

Blyde River Canyon Cruise

Discover one of the world’s largest green canyons from an entirely different perspective.

Aboard a comfortable pontoon boat, you’ll cruise through the spectacular waters of the Blyde River Canyon beneath towering cliffs, enjoying breathtaking views of the iconic Three Rondavels and the remarkable Kadishi Tufa Waterfall – one of the few living tufa waterfalls on Earth.

Led by a local skipper with extensive knowledge of the region, the cruise also offers wonderful opportunities to observe hippos, crocodiles, African fish eagles and a rich variety of birdlife inhabiting the lush riverbanks.

A peaceful and unforgettable experience surrounded by magnificent scenery.

Africa on Foot – Walking Safari (31 May – 3 June)

Your journey begins with an unforgettable three-night walking safari in the Maseke Reserve, an 8.000 hectare protected wilderness within the Greater Kruger ecosystem.

This immersive experience offers a rare opportunity to slow down and reconnect with the essence of the wild.

Each morning, you’ll venture into the bush on foot with experienced armed guides, learning to interpret animal tracks, observe subtle signs of life, and experience the landscape through all your senses. Afternoons are dedicated to traditional open-vehicle safaris in search of the region’s remarkable wildlife.

The camp has been reserved exclusively for our group.

Accommodation consists of eight comfortable canvas safari tents, each featuring a real bed, an outdoor shower beneath the stars, and eco-friendly dry toilets.

Situated in an unfenced wilderness area, the camp allows guests to experience the thrill of sharing the landscape with free-roaming wildlife. From your tent, you may spot animals moving through the bush in the distance while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the African night.

Each day, water heated over a traditional wood fire provides a wonderfully hot shower, while meals are freshly prepared over open flames.

Evenings are spent gathered around the fire or dining beneath a canopy of stars.

  • Private safari tent for each participant.

Cape Vulture Lodge is located within the Cape Vulture Conservancy, approximately thirty minutes from Hoedspruit, between the Greater Kruger and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon—one of South Africa’s richest biodiversity hotspots.

Conservation at the Heart of the Experience

The lodge was created with a clear conservation purpose: protecting the endangered Cape Vulture, a species found only in southern Africa and currently classified as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Approximately 650 breeding pairs nest along the cliffs of the northern Drakensberg escarpment, representing nearly ten percent of the world’s remaining population.

Sustainability is woven into every aspect of the lodge’s operation, including solar energy systems, water recycling initiatives, and a thriving permaculture garden.

Each suite features:

  • Outdoor shower
  • Private viewing deck
  • Panoramic mountain views
  • King-size bed or twin beds

Perched above the majestic Olifants River, Sashwa River of Stars offers one of the most spectacular safari settings in the Greater Kruger region.

With no fences separating the lodge from the surrounding wilderness, wildlife moves freely across millions of hectares of protected habitat, creating an extraordinary sense of immersion and connection with nature.

From the lodge’s elevated vantage point, elephants, hippos, antelope, and numerous other species can often be observed along the river below. At night, the distant calls of lions echo through the darkness beneath a sky illuminated by countless stars.

A Sanctuary for Wellbeing

Beyond exceptional wildlife viewing, Sashwa has been designed as a space for restoration, reflection, and inner stillness.

The guides leading the walking safaris are highly qualified professionals with extensive experience in wildlife areas. Each guide is fully certified, carries the required permits and qualifications, and is trained in first aid and wilderness safety.

Having spent hundreds of hours on foot in areas inhabited by Africa’s iconic wildlife, they possess a deep understanding of animal behaviour and the natural environment.

Their priority is to ensure that every participant feels safe and supported throughout the experience.

While stepping beyond your comfort zone is naturally part of a walking safari, you will be guided with professionalism, confidence, and care every step of the way.

The privilege of moving through the African bush on foot, immersed in the sounds, scents, and rhythms of the wild, creates memories that remain with you long after the journey ends.

No specific level of fitness is required to participate in the walking safaris.

The terrain is generally flat and accessible, and walks are conducted at a relaxed pace. You can expect to spend approximately three to four hours walking each morning alongside your armed professional guide.

These are not strenuous hikes, but rather gentle explorations designed to deepen your connection with the landscape and its wildlife.

Walking through the African wilderness among free-roaming animals is a truly extraordinary experience: one that invites presence, curiosity, and wonder rather than physical performance.

Participants aged 65 and over are required to provide a medical certificate confirming their fitness to travel.
