A TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCE

Eco-consious journeys curated with care

We encourage our participants to travel with intention, engaging with local communities through compassion and a thoughtful, respectful lens. We are proud to include local providers, lodge staff, and collaborators in our experiences whenever we can, building itineraries rooted in meaningful, genuine partnership every step of the way.

Together, we create a community, a village of our own during each retreat that we are very proud of. And it is common for participants, and local people, to stay connected long after the trip has ended – soul connections.

Before your departure, we invite you to take time to set your intentions for your new journey. What called you to book your retreat in the African wilderness?
What would you like to accomplish while you are away?

  • Keep in mind the purpose of your trip to make it a fulfilling one.
  • Think about the actions and choices that need to take place to allow you to pursue that purpose.
  • Set intentions on how you plan to approach and engage with the variety of experiences and people you will encounter along the way.

The inward journey

As your adventure begins, be prepared to part with your preconceived ideas and expand out into the world.

Leave behind anything you do not truly need, travel light both physically and mentally.

Be open to rediscovering simplicity – simplicity is beauty.

The outward journey

Aim to positively impact the people, places, and environments you will be experiencing while learning, growing, and improving your wellbeing and quality of life.

Make your cultural interactions meaningful, share your perspective with others, and by being an ambassador for your own culture.

After your journey, remain connected…

Revisit your experience

Whether your journey helped you awaken something new inside you or shifted a belief you have, whether it helped you heal trauma or share your story with others, we will help you when you get home.

We assist you in following through and doing something with all of the insight and clarity you will have gleaned during your retreat or workshop.

We encourage you to use the inspirational experiences you had to engineer positive change in your life and the world around you.

Take your purposeful actions back home

Remain as open and connected to your feelings at home as you were while you were travelling.

Reflect on the thoughts you had on your journey and remind yourself of anything that moved or inspired you.

Share your progress with your facilitator and reconnect with other participants.

Continue to be an active participant in any charitable contributions you make, do not make it a once-off activity – true regenerative tourism is an ongoing commitment.

Transformational Travel

As a Designer of the Transformational Travel Council, we encourage our participants to travel with thoughtful eyes and an open H.E.A.R.T.

Humility - observe without judgement
We encourage our participants to be curious, to listen, and to accept new learnings and understandings. Don’t be shy to connect with other participants and locals. Be sure to respect cultures, local customs, and religious rituals that differ from your own. Ask permission before taking photographs and make it a two-way exchange by sharing your photographs with locals.
Be Engaged - a driver of transformation
Before embarking on your adventure, take time to learn about the destinations you will be visiting. Absorb as much as you can about the language, religion, culture, rules and values shared by the locals. As the master of your journey, be proactive in creating your transformative travel experience and growth mindset. Ensure that you are sensitive to others and that you will unleash the unique combination of qualities, characteristics, and ingenuity of local cultures.
Be Awake - pay attention
While you are traveling, be actively aware of the power and complexity of the circumstances you are entering. Your choices have an impact on those around you. Choose to question and learn about what would be appropriate reactions, behaviour, and body language, for example.
Be Resilient - step out of your comfort zone & embrace the unknown!
As you discover differences between your world and the world you are visiting, appreciate having your own beliefs and understanding challenged : observe, reflect, and shift your perspective. There will be many opportunities to learn and grow when choosing to embrace them.
Be Thankful - it’s all about gratitude
Connect with others with empathy. Be thoughtful and considerate of locals and those you are traveling with. Aim to put a smile on the faces of the people you meet. When you return home, think about how you can support programs or NGOs that are working to protect the welfare, culture, and environment of the destination you have just visited. Nature Connexion will facilitate any support you wish to give.
