The establishments we partner with (safari lodges, bush villas, tented camps), are carefully selected for their ethics and principles. Each property, game reserve and conservation program is unique in how it adapts to its environment, minimizes ecological impact and supports the local community. For example, they might:
- support a local enterprise or communities around them
- run a trust or a conservation project to preserve wildlife
- use green building principles
- produce sustainable products or wood
- run tree planting programs
- purchase local (organic) products
- buy environmentally friendly cleaning products
- recycle, upcycle, and invest in solar systems
At Nature Connexion, we also thoroughly select sustainable suppliers along the journey and create opportunities for our clients and local people to meet in meaningful, respectful ways that transform the experience into a real human connection through nature. By participating in local economies, you, as a traveller and a guest, participate in their sustainability and prosperity.

Accommodation Type Comfort Levels
You can choose between fenced or unfenced areas (with wildlife roaming freely around the camp) and accommodations ranging from a simple fly-camp* to a luxury lodge.
A safari lodge is built with brick, stone and solid materials while a tented camp usually consists of canvas tents. In Africa, a tent is not necessarily a cheaper option and can actually be more expensive. The tents usually include some space for a living area or an outside deck and an en-suite bathroom with an indoor or outdoor shower. The level of luxury of these tents varies a lot.

A Night Under the Stars
Certain safari lodges offer “star beds” built on raised wooden platforms or in trees. These are usually situated away from their main camp for a completely immersive and memorable experience.
Imagine yourself in a comfy bed, in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by true wilderness under a canopy of stars! Be lulled by the calls of a fiery necked nightjar or a pearl spotted owl, the laugh of a hyena (my favourite!) or other nocturnal animals. The bright night is so pure with no light pollution that you can even observe galaxies and satellites passing by with the naked eye.
To make it safe, your guide can spend the night a reasonable distance away from your platform. Wake up the next morning to a romantic sunrise and the early calls of African birds.
