Where ?

Tuli Block

The Tuli Block is a hidden wilderness jewel – a narrow fringe of land at Botswana‘s eastern border wedged between Zimbabwe and South Africa. That private reserve is unfenced and extends from the Zimbabwe border for some 350 kms along the legendary Limpopo River.

It contains an abundance of wildlife and fascinating topography that makes it quite different from anywhere else in Botswana. The wild bushland is spectacular and unique, with gigantic nyala trees and baobabs amongst the rocky koppies. Much of the area is unfenced, allowing the animals to roam freely.

The Tuli is home for the largest elephant population on private land in the world, and leopard, hyena, lions, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, impala, kudu and eland complete the Koro cast of characters who may be encountered. Local birdlife is prolific.

Game viewing here is rich and varied with a unique take on specially adapted inhabitants such as bat-eared fox and perhaps the most endangered carnivore in Botswana, the elusive brown hyena.

Your Camp

The camp is remotely located on an island in the Limpopo River and accessible only via a suspension bridge; the perfect base for your wellness and detox retreat. It has completely sustainable designs and is in full partnerships with the local communities. The deep rooted philanthropic and conservation passion of the owners has created various community development programs. We are particularly fond of this eco-conscious lodge, a true haven of peace. Thousands of hectares await for you to explore and reconnect with the Living.

The sense of hospitality of the local staff will make you feel home from the moment you arrive. Simplicity often goes along with beauty…

A very varied programme awaits you :

  • Game drives in an open 4×4 vehicle with an experienced guide, allowing you to get close encounters with all kinds of wildlife.
  • Fascinating bush walks where you will learn more in depth about the ecosystems surrounding you.
  • two daily Pilates sessions in front of the Limpopo River or in a beautiful spot chosen in the savannah…
  • historical & cultural visits as well as meetings with local communities.
  • blazing African sunset and sundowners….
  • Nights drives in search of nocturnal animals, while marvelling at the myriad of stars that twinkle in the darkness.
  • Sleep-out under the stars on a platform…

The camp has established a Foundation that funds an accredited PhD level field study in the area, focussing on the ecology of leopards and hyenas of the Tuli. This includes the highly endangered Kalahari icon, the brown hyena. You will be invited to participate in monitoring activities and field observations. Also, a ‘bee barrier’ project is also helping alleviate elephant conflict with local farmers, wildlife education program.
